Boston Cares and our affiliate colleagues throughout the national HandsOn Network are leaders in mobilizing the public, including youth ages 5 and up, on recognized Days of Service, including:

  • MLK Day of Service—With 700+ volunteers, Boston Cares runs the largest MLK Day service event in Boston in partnership with the Mayor of Boston, Boston Public Schools, the Massachusetts Service Alliance, and with the support of corporate partners including Target.

  • Global Youth Service Day—Boston Cares’ Teen Advisory Council creates and then leads a volunteer project for 100+ youth to make a difference on this annual Spring service day.

  • Make a Difference Day—Boston Cares brings together hundreds of volunteers for high impact projects like building toddler and twin beds for the more than 1500 Greater Boston school children who do not have one.

  • Family Volunteer Day—Kicking off the Winter holidays, Family Volunteer Day is always the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  Boston Cares volunteers of all ages give back by helping other families in need! Past projects have included STEM kits, Literacy Kits, lap desks, and more.
